A day at the Marina

Wednesday 19th August 2015

Another great days weather.

The morning activity was fixing sail numbers onto Koonya's mainsail, gettting them ready for Magnetic Island Race Week, which they have registered to participate in. It is not a small exercise and we need to take the mainsail off most of the way to make it possible. Fortunately there is only a very light breeze.

We spent most of the day around Nelly Bay, doing a bit of shopping, and walks around the area. The boat next to us on the marina had a diver scrub the hull to remove a lot of growth, and once it was all done we saw some large fish and other strange sea creatures appear to devour what had been released into the water.

We are not sure what this creature is, but it seems to thrive on eating floating debris

This evening we were invited to a BBQ with Mark and Janet's friends who have rented a villa at Pure Magnetic, opposite the Nelly Bay Beach. The villas are Balinese style and very nice.

They were great hosts and we had an enjoyable evening, realising what a small World it is, as it turned out we had a number of mutual acquaintances.
