We initially planned to have a later start this morning, but when we awoke, the bay was almost empty. There was less wind than we had expected, so we decided to pull up anchor at 8.00am, as we need to cover 42nm today and it is looking like we will motor all the way.
Absolutely nothing happening at Abbott Point Coal Loader as we passed, and very few ships waiting
Tokeresa left earlier than us, and we can see them on the AIS a few miles ahead of us. We were last to leave from our little bay. There is no wind, so we don't even think about putting a sail up, but the fishing lure goes out the back hoping for a catch.
A few hours into our trip there was a big strike on the lure, and the line was stripping off the reel at an incredible pace. The run was so strong I couldn't get the rod out of the rod holder and eventually the line came to an end and the jolt shook the fish off.
An hour late, away it went again and we caught another nice school mackerel, similar in size to the one we caught yesterday.
They make such a mess in the cockpit to land and fillet, that I was banned from putting the line out again to try for another. We now have enough fish to feed us for several days.
Once anchored at Bona Bay, our new friends from Tokeresa came over to say hello. Our invitation for them to join us for pre dinner drinks ended up as an invitation to join them for dinner with two other couples they are travelling with. As we were going to have Thai fish cakes for dinner, made from our freshly caught mackerel, we took that as a starter for dinner, as they were providing the main.
It was a great evening, and the base of people we meet continues to grow.
