Golf at Magnetic Island

Tuesday 11th August 2015

Early morning chores involved a visit to the laundry to do some washing, before heading off to play golf with Geoff and Jenny from Ruby at Magnetic Island Golf Course.

Geoff and Jenny are still anchored off Horseshoe Bay, so they need to go ashore in their dinghy with their golf clubs and catch the 9.40am bus from Horseshoe Bay to Picnic Bay. We met the bus at Nelly  Bay at 10.05 am.

We loaded our clubs on board, and asked the driver to let us know where to get off at the closest stop to the golf course. He announced he would drive us to the golf course and drop us off there, saving us a 200m walk. How is that for service !!

The course is a 9 hole golf course with different tee positions to make it an interesting enough 18 hole course. It is hardly booked out, so they willingly take out money and we are on the course in no time.

It is not an easy course as the fairways are narrow, the trees large and the greens small and slippery.

The game was closely contested all of the way around, with the final results being Geoff and Jenny with 33 points each, and Carole and I with 36 points each. The Mica Cup is still locked in a draw !

After our round we walked back to the bus stop and after only a very brief wait, were back on the bus to Nelly Bay. There was no time to have a drink at the golf club, or we would have had to wait more than 1 hour for the next bus.

Back at Nelly Bay, Geoff and Jenny got off the bus and we went to Peppers for a drink and something to eat. Mark and Janet joined us for a drink as we were almost overlooking their boat on the marina.

Our late lunch and a few drinks were very relaxing, but Geoff and Jenny had to catch the next bus back to Horseshoe Bay and go back to their boat. Mark and Janet have a dinner appointment with her 93 year old uncle who comes to Magnetic to escape the Winter cold in Ballarat.

We had a quiet dinner on board Mica.
