There is a bit more wind today, mostly from
the East, but otherwise it is a sunny clear day.
Despite it being a little cooler, we walked
to Alma Bay for a swim if the conditions are nice. Instead of walking along the
track that follows the road, we walked along the beach at Geoffrey Bay.

(Grand Mercure Apartments on Bright Point)
At the far end of the beach, a road takes
you around to the end of the headland, where there is a boarding ramp for the
Sealink Ferries, which apparently used to use this landing regularly. According
to the sign there, it is still used on occasions, but Nelly Bay is now the main
ferry terminal. Now it is a popular spot for rock wallabies.

The path to the headland weaves around granite boulders which dominate the Magnetic Island Landscape
By the time we get to Alma Bay, via the
newsagent, the wind has freshened and has stirred up the water in the bay, with
even some waves being formed. Things have also cooled down a bit, so we decide
not to bother with the swim.

On the way back to the marina, we stopped
in at the bottle shop at the Arcadia hotel to get some beer etc, but have a
problem getting it back to the boat as it is more than a 2 km walk. The lady at
the shop kindly offers to deliver our order when she finishes work at 4 pm if
we send over $100 (which was not a problem).
Before lunch it is time to give the boat a
good wash down, as it is a bit dry and dusty here and the dust builds up over
time.
Just after 4pm, the delivery from the
bottle shop arrived as promised. Our other colleagues on our marina arm were
most impressed.
Later this afternoon Ruby arrived back at
the marina for the night, on their way from Townsville heading around to
Horseshoe Bay on Friday. Geoff is celebrating his 60th Birthday around
there on Saturday with a large gathering of family and friends. We had
sundowners on Koonya, which then moved on to Ruby, before for having a quiet
dinner on board Mica and watching the cricket.
