After a coolish start the day warmed up to
be another very pleasant day. We walked to Picnic bay late morning, this time
walking along Nelly Bay beach until we came to the headland, and then rejoined
the road to get over it.

Mark and Janet rode their folding bikes and we
agreed we would meet up at the Picnic Bay Hotel for lunch.

The hotel was not as busy as last week, but
we are all quickly taken by the days lunch special, Beer Battered Barramundi
with Salt and Pepper Squid and chips (all for $15). After waiting a bit longer
than we thought we should have to, we enquired when our meal was coming only
to be told that they had run out of Barramundi. I am not sure how long they
would have let us sit there before eventually having to come and tell us.
Anyway, the young French chef appeared to apologise and
said that the special had been changed to lamb chops, but if we really wanted fish,
he would supply the original order using coral trout instead of barramundi. Not
surprisingly we quickly accepted is offer. It was fantastic.
Having enjoyed a great lunch and a few cold
beers we walked home, planning to return to the Picnic Bay Hotel to watch the
Bledisloe Cup at 5.30pm where we could see it on a big screen. This time we caught
the bus (having already walked over 8 km up and back the first time), and found a seat where we could get a good view of the screen. We left
before the match was over, as we could no longer watch the hammering the All
Blacks were giving the Wallabies.
Back at the boat we had a BBQ on Mica.
