First thing this morning we headed off to the fresh food market at Airlie to get our fresh salad vegetables and fruit. It seems to last so much longer than the same products purchased from the supermarket.
We drove the rental cat down there and then went on to Cannonvale Shopping Centre. We had a big shop at Cannonvale to get our supplies for the next part of our trip, which will involve a week or so before we see a marina again. We also picked up a meat order for Mark and Janet who we hope to reunite with on Monday, weather permitting.
Not much happening here at the marina, everyone appears to be waiting for the right weather window. There has been a fair bit of rain today and the strong winds continue, unabated. Maintenance jobs are running out.
It is Michelle's birthday today, so we eventually make contact with the time difference etc. It seems all is well in WA and the boys have cooked her a birthday cake.
We had Thai Fish cakes (still consuming our catch from the freezer), with Steve and Kim on Mica tonight.
Sunday 13th September 2015
Everyone is getting sick of the persistent strong trade winds and are ready to go, in either direction if the wind and rain abates. At least today the wind is easing and the rain appears to be passing.
We plan to leave tomorrow, with the forecast improving, but still not great. We will see how it turns out and will find a suitable anchorage if it is too unpleasant to continue, otherwise we will head to Thomas Island.
We had a BBQ on Wilparina tonight with other good friends of Steve and Kim from Akuna Bay, Don and Jo from Magma, who we have met up with along the way.
The current plan is to leave in the morning at around 9 am.
