Last Day in Mackay

Monday 21st September 2015

Still in Mackay, but planning to leave tomorrow. A strong Southerly system forecast down near the Percy Islands this afternoon persuaded us to wait till tomorrow. Mark and Janet decided to go and left at 6 am.

We have opted for a relaxing last day in Mackay, and it is my birthday.

The only serious chore for the morning was getting the dinghy on the dock, and removing the floor to wash all of the accumulated sand from the cavity under the floor.

Carole and Kim are going into town on the midday bus to see hairdressers etc and top up on groceries. Steve and I had a birthday beer and a hamburger at the local cafe.

Mid afternoon we had another arrival on our berth, an Oceanis 46 called Supertramp. Steve and I helped them tie up, and they joined us for a pre dinner drink. Allan and Sue had motored down from Shaw Island today in what they described as reasonable conditions.

Carole has been busy preparing a birthday dinner for me, roasted leg of lamb and an apple pie. Steve and Kim joined us for dinner, and it was a terrific meal.

Lamb Roast . Yum !

Cutting the Apple Pie (birthday cake)

We plan to leave at 6 am in the morning so make it an early night.
