Another light wind day is ahead of us, so
it is a motor to Mackay today. We cast off the mooring at 9 am and head South
through Egremont Passage .
We get a better view of the development of
both islands as we pass through the passage, especially Homestead Bay on St
Bees.

The sea conditions are pretty calm as we
motor over to Mackay, so the fishing line went out quite early in the hope of
picking up a fish trolling along the way. About half way over we get a strike
and, are hopeful of a good catch. After
about 10 minutes we can see the fish about 5 metres from the boat and now quite
close to the surface. It looks like a good sized mackerel. As I wind it in
closer to the boat, somehow it shakes the hook out of its mouth and that is the
last we saw of it.
Approaching Mackay Harbour, a large ship is
leaving and we have to change course to get out of the main channel to allow it
to pass.
Eventually we are back on course to enter
the harbour and take up our marina berth. This time we are on one of the outer
berths amongst more commercial vessels, but closer to all amenities.
Mark and Janet have a rigger coming at 3.30
pm to look at there mast support problem, and Steve and Kim are berthed next to
us on the marina, and are firmly focused on resolving their toilet blockage
problem.
I end up helping Steve with his problem,
which after some serious disassembly of piping and tracing the blockage led to the
conclusion it was on sea side of the ball valve, and a bit of persuasion with a
fire house dislodged the wad of paper that was creating the problem.
We all had a BBQ on Mica tonight .
