It is still windy with a touch of rain. We went for a walk around the marina precinct, looking for the Weekend markets which we subsequently found out are only on Sunday, despite a notice in the carpark closing the area for markets on both Saturday and Sunday.
Everything was pretty quiet despite it being a Saturday
Having failed to find the market we decided to go for a walk out along the breakwall, which seems to be a major tourist attraction since the work on rebuilding it was completed recently.
It is a massive wall that was very badly damaged by cyclones in 2010 and 2014. When we visited here on the way North the rebuilding was still under way. Now that the work has been completed, the roadway out to the end carries a continuous stream of traffic. Obviously it is now one of the scenic highlights of Mackay.
It is a massive wall, and needs to be to cope with the 4m + tides
The sea is still pretty untidy, so we won't be going out until it settles down and the wind abates from the 20-25 knots from the SE that seems constant every day.
There are a few arrivals from the South today, but no sign of anyone heading South. There have also been a couple of boats that come from the USA sail in over the past few days.
This one caught our attention, called "La Quilta" (note the quilted boom bag, and headsail)
We have booked a rental car for half a day tomorrow to have a drive up into the hinterland and get away from the marina for a while.
Sundowners are on Wilparina and we are joined by Steve and Denise, from Top Shelf, who are on a berth not far from us.

Dinner tonight is the Seafood Buffet at the Clarion Hotel which is part of the marina complex. It was a pretty good selection of fresh and cooked seafood and very well patronised. We had booked for 7pm, and there was already a substantial line waiting.
Mark, (not a great seafood lover) decided to pass on the buffet, but Janet joined us
