High tide at Sheridan Flats (the shallowest part of the Great Sandy Straights), is at 10.30 this morning, so we calculate that we need to leave Garry's Anchorage at just before 9 am to arrive with the maximum tide benefit.
Early morning at Garry's Anchorage
I called the Coastguard at Great Sandy Straights, just to confirm the tide timing and if there had been any beacon changes. One beacon had been damaged and replaced by a red buoy about 8 metres from it's original location, but the main advice was to ignore the GPS at beacon 24, as in many GPS systems it will guide you to the wrong side of the port mark, and aground. We trusted the buoys, even though the GPS showed us travelling over land.
The second drama was that tide had changed early, but were advised we would still make it through based of depths at points leading up to the shallow section. The coastguard was very helpful.

With all that out of the way, we headed off to North West Cliffs, and anchored off the Kingfisher Resort. We went ashore for lunch, came back and did a bit of fishing catching numerous undersized whiting and flathead.
We are heading off to Bundaberg tomorrow morning, so decided to eat on our own boats.
