The howling wind continues and we need to
get away from the marina for a day, so we share a hire car with Brian and
Amanda and head down to Woodgate for some bushwalking.
It took a while to find the trail, known as
the Banksia Track, but we eventually found it and realized that we had done
part of it some years earlier. It is a pretty ordinary walk tat follows a fire
trail through some National Park, with a small section of boardwalk included.
The positive side was we did get some
exercise and we were out of the strong winds for an hour or so.
Once the walk was completed we went into
Woodgate for lunch at the Woodgate Beach Hotel, a place we had been before and
at that time they served great calamari. The food was still good, and the place
was well supported.
Conditions out on the beach are very unpleasant
with the 20 knot + onshore wind stirring up the seas.
We retreated to the shopping area for a cup
of coffee , before driving back to Burnett Heads to return the hire car to the
marina.
Tonight we had Brian and Amanda and Andrew
and Lyn around for sundowners before having a BBQ dinner on board.
We
are still hopeful there will be a break in the weather on Wednesday to
allow us to escape, but will just have to wait and see. At the moment the
forecast looks favourable.
