Having spent enough time sitting out the
wild northerlies, we are hopeful of heading out tomorrow into the Great Sandy
Straights to make our way further South. There are a lot of boats at the marina
with the same view, so there could be a mass exodus South tomorrow morning, if
the current weather forecast in any way resembles reality.
Our plan is to leave at around 6 am, and
look for an anchorage that gives protection from a strong North to NW wind. The
best prospect at the moment is behind the Southern tip of Big Woody Island.
Today has been spent getting last minute
things in place, as well as helping out with a number of morning arrivals, as
people have continued to flock into the marina to escape the wild conditions
outside. Most of the new arrivals have appeared on our marina leg, and it has
taken 3 or 4 people to grab lines to help them get into their berths with
minimum drama.
We walked back into Burnett Heads to get
fresh veg from the IGA and had lunch in there. The café near the supermarket
still makes the best steak sandwich I have had anywhere and it is so large,
that we shared one between us.
Back at the marina with our groceries, we
made the final preparations to be ready to go tomorrow. We noticed that a
Prince Alfred boat had arrived mysteriously on the marina leg opposite us. It
was Nirnvanas Kitchen, and it appears they arrived at midnight last night after
bypassing Pancake Creek, where they originally planned to anchor because the
entry was too dangerous.
Sundowners were on Dalwhinnie with Leon and
Nirvana, Chris from Discovery 11 and ourselves, before we retired back to Mica
to have our seafood platter which is complimentary from the marina if you stay
for 5 days or more.

What a great feed. We could not finish it
all, so have prawns left over for lunch tomorrow whist we are sailing.
