Sunday 9th July 2017
Back out of the marina by 9.30am, there is
not a lot of breeze and it is variable, so we are motoring to get somewhere
close to Hamilton Island where we will meet up with Michelle and Cody tomorrow.
We decided to head down the Molle Channel
and past the top end of Daydream Island to get a look at what the cyclone
damage looks like from the North.
Northern side of Daydream
From there we pass through Unsafe Passage
between North and South Molle, and take a detour down to Bauer Bay to see what the state of the resort out South
Molle is. It is also closed till further notice. It obviously was hot hard and
was probably in disrepair before the cyclone. The damage to the jetty is a fair
indication of the destructive forces at work.

The wind is now more consistently SE but
still below 10 knots, so we rolled out the headsail and motor sailed to Cid
Harbour, at least saving some diesel.
Arriving at just before noon, there were
surprisingly few boats here, with some leaving after lunch. By sunset the
arrivals had outnumbered the departures and about 30 boats are anchored for the
night in very pleasant conditions.
Even in protected Cid Harbour evidence of Cyclone Debbie is evident with this commercial vessel washed up on the rocks at the northern extremity of the harbour
A party boat arrived at sunset and hopefully
it is just a twilight cruise and they will leave and take the noise with them.
Fortunately they did depart at around 7.30pm and the tranquility returned.
As usual here, the sunset is always worth
watching.
