Saturday 8th July 2017
It is another fine day with variable winds below 10 knots, and it is quite warm up around 28 C.
First priority is to get to the Airlie markets before all of the good fresh produce is sold out. We set out at around 8.30am and were there close to 9am. Getting some green papaya salad (which sells out quickly) was our first stop, and then we went to 2 or 3 favourite stalls to get the rest of our fresh salad material and vegetables.
Things we couldn't buy at the markets we stopped at Woolworths to get. Whilst we didn't have a huge shopping list, we walked out with a lot of bags that we had to lug the 700 or 800m back to the marina. It was hard work in the high heat and humidity.
Mica is now fully stocked and we are looking forward to picking up Michelle and Cody from Hamilton Island on Monday, to spend a week with us.
As we were all hot and sweaty, I decided I might as well wheel my jerry cans around to the fuel wharf and get 40 litres of diesel. Once again it is a fair walk. A lot of people put their dinghies in the water to travel from one end of the marina to the other. Anyway, by the time I get the diesel back to the boat, I am ready for a rest.
Carole hosed the boat down and we had a pretty lazy afternoon.
Chris and Tracy from Strega dropped by to let us know they had just arrived back on the marina and were invited around to their boat for sundowners. by 6.30pm it was time to say our goodbyes and do something about dinner.'
A trip to Sorrento's to have a pizza was the easiest and we had a nice table looking over the marina, a few drinks and enough left over pizza for another meal. As we are staying at the marina for a month we were given a discount card for a number of businesses in Airlie, and the 20% discount at Sorrento's was most welcome.
