Straight after breakfast, Michelle is keen
to get to the Airlie Markets, and w have a bit of shopping to do, both there
and at Woolies. Walking into town from the North marina is so much easier than
our previous berth at the southern end of the south marina.
After a walk around the market, we had what
we needed to get, so sat down for a cup of coffee, and then left Michelle and
Cody to their own resources and will see them back at the boat when they have
had enough.
They arrived back, after lunch, with their
bags of goodies bought at the markets, and not long afterwards, we up for a
walk in the other direction to Cannonvale.
Cannonvale, (Whitsunday Plaza), was surprisingly dead when we
got there mid Sat afternoon, with Coles, the butcher and a few specialist food
shops and bottle shops the only ones open. We had a look around the whole
shopping centre and were surprised at the number of empty stores. Even the
Target store that used to be there has disappeared.
By the time we walked back to the boat, we
had covered a lot of ground and most of the team settled in for an afternoon
rest.
I wandered over to the Port of Airlie to organize
ferry tickets for Michelle and Cody back to Hamilton Island on Monday to catch
their flight home. It is easier to do that than try to get access into the harbour there to drop people off or stay another night there. They are still very stretched for space until the repair of the damaged marina arms is complete.
