Having enjoyed a great stay at Bait Reef,
we are heading back to Airlie this morning to re provision at the markets and
get organized to have Michelle and Cody on board from Monday.
Sunrise at Bait Reef
The tide is high at 9am, so we leave at 7am
so we can enjoy of few hours of running with the tide before it turns.
Conditions are very light and we are motoring, but with current assistance
making good time.
Once past Hayman Island, the seas flattened
further and became almost glassy. The trip back to the marina took 5.5 hours.
Glassy seas looking towards Double cone Island
We have organized a berth for one month, as
we will be leaving the boat here for 2 weeks when we fly back to Sydney at the
end of the month, and in the meantime will be coming in and out as we cruise
around the islands and need to top up with fresh food or hide from bad weather.
A lot of boats from Royal Prince
Alfred are arriving ahead of their
planned rendezvous here in a week or so. Dalwhinnie is also heading for the
marina, about 2.5 miles in front of us.
Our berth for the next few days is on a T
arm, and not long after we had tied up, a dinghy came up alongside to say
hello. It was a couple from a boast called Back Friday, that we sailed in
company with a few times 2 years ago, and spent time in the same marina at
Magnetic Island. They have anchored outside the marina and are running in, in
their dinghy.
Late afternoon we went for a walk around to
the North marina to see if we could find Dalwhinnie. We ended up having a few
of Brian’s beers and a good chat before heading back to Mica at just before 6pm
to organize dinner.
