Todays morning exercise is a walk to Picnic
Bay. It is also our last day on
Magnetic Island, so we hope to make the best of it.
The walk is always enjoyable, and today as we walk past the X Base
Backpackers Resort ( pretty flash for backpackers), we see a Ketch sailing for Rocky Bay, a very pretty bay where the
beach is only exposed at low to mid tide.
X Base Backpackers Accommodation, not bad for backpackers !
A Tourist boat anchored at Rocky Bay
Over the Hill there is a great lookout
which overlooks Rocky Bay and Picnic Bay. Along this walk we found a native kapok tree with pods full of kapok.

It is then a steep descent down a well
defined trail to Picnic Bay Town, and then a walk along the waterfront to the
main beach. It has been a reasonably warm day and we are all looking forward to
a swim at Picnic Bay. The tide is just right and the water temperature a little
cool, but excellent once in.
It was a great way to refresh after the
walk and help build an appetite.
Everyone is hungry and thirsty and the Picnic Point Hotel satisfies both
needs well.
Coffee at the Picnic Bay Hotel while we waited for the bus
We had a nice lunch, before catching the
bus back to Nelly Bay, and spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for our
departure tomorrow. IGA supermarket did well, and the Liquor Legends Store at
Nelly Bay had no complaints.
We had Sundowners on Imagine, with Sue and
John, who we will sail in company with tomorrow to Cape Upstart, before heading
back to Mica for a BBQ on board and an early night.
