Monday 14th August 2017
It was a pretty lazy day at Magnetic today.
Once again there was very little wind
and other wide pleasant conditions.
We took advantage of the light conditions
to get the code zero out and hoist it, so we could refurl it properly, as it
was very loose from the last furl. John, from Jo – De 7was watching and
commented that he had a code zero made by UK Halsey on his previous boat and
had the same furling issues. He resolved his problem by changing to a top down
furler. Something to have a look at when
we get back to Sydney.
Whilst in the mood to do chores, it was
time to refill the jerry cans with diesel, so John from Imagine, and I put our
jerry cans on our trolleys, and wandered off down the street to the nearest
service station (about 400 metres away).
In the meantime, Carole did some laundry.
Having got a few chores out of the way, we
decided to walk to Picnic Bay (about 4 km) for lunch at the Picnic Bay Hotel,
with John and Sue from Imagine. Once there we ran into the team from Jo-De 7
with their family group also settled in for lunch at the pub.
We walked past the Thai Restaurant we dined at last night
Picnic Bay
Two Brahminy Kites perched in a palm tree near the hotel
By now it was getting pretty warm, so we
caught the bus back to Nelly Bay, and went for a walk around to the eastern
breakwall of the marina to see if the rock wallabies are still there. Initially
we couldn’t see them, but soon 4 appeared to get a free feed from one of the
residents at the Mercure apartments.
After a short rest back on board, we all
headed back around toBBQ area for a communal BBQ dinner.
