We are expecting the wind to pickup over
the next few days as we get te tail end of the very strong winds being
experienced down south, but for us it should only be in the 10-20 knot range
and a bit of breeze will be welcome.
Our visitors for the next week or so,
Carole’s brother Peter and wife Sharon will be arriving just after lunch
assuming the flights from Sydney are not disrupted by the winds down there.
For our morning walk, we went to Alma Bay, at Arcadia. It is one of the best swimming beaches on the Island and the home of the Arcadia Surf Life Saving Club. Like all of the bays here, the scenery is stunning.

Native Kapok trees are in flower everywhere, adding colour to the already spectacular scenery
On the Way to Alma Bay we walked around the Eastern tip of Geoffery Bay

Carole went for a swim and we then had a
wander around Arcadia, before strolling back to Nelly Bay to have lunch on the
boat.
Sharon sent us a text announcing that their
flight arrived early due to the strong tailwinds, and that the Magnetic Island
ferry had waited for their shuttle bus, so we can expect them at 1.20pm.
Once they were settled in on the boat, they
had not had lunch, so we walked across the road to Scallywags Café where they
got something to eat and we had a coffee. It is a great little café and the
staff very entertaining.
After lunch we sat around in the cockpit of
Mica, just catching up and in no time ,it was time for sundowners.
We decided to take the easy option for
dinner and walked down the road to the Thai Restaurant, which had all of the
internal tables booked out, but we were able to secure a very nice table out in
the garden. It was a balmy night and
sitting outside was very pleasant. We all commented on how there was a distinct
lack of any biting insects up here, as further south, at this time of night you
would be attacked by midges, sandflies etc.
Dinner was good, and we walked back to the
boat to watch the Bledisloe Cup. What a
shocker, surely the Wallabies will have a new coach soon !
It has been a very long day for Peter and
Sharon, having left Newcastle at around 6 am this morning. They are looking
forward to a good nights sleep.
