Settled into the Bundaberg marina, we spend
the morning preparing for the next leg of our trip. The main priority is
refueling whilst the wind is manageable at the fuel wharf. I have a good deal
going with Steve where I can fill my tank with my jerry cans, then help him
with his lines to take his boat to the fuel wharf, where I can also refill my
jerry cans without having to drag the trolley around to the wharf.
We take down the code zero and pack it
away, as there is no forecast suggesting it will be at all useful for the next
few legs of our trip, which look like being into the wind.
Originally, we had thought about having a
game of golf today, but there are no rental cars available. Steve’s brother,
Graham, offered to drive us to the Bargara course (about 13 km way) so we
willingly took up his kind offer.
Arriving at the course, it was surprisingly
quiet. It is a lovely day, with a building SE breeze, but very comfortable.
The course is deserted and we can tee off
whenever we like. It has been a while since we have both swung a club, so the
golf is a bit ordinary for the first few holes. Of course this is another Mica
Cup round, so it is competitive right from the start. Through 9 holes the game
as close until the 9th, where Carole jumped to a 3 point lead.
Fortunately Mike came good on the second nine completing the round ahead by 6
points. The overall Mica Cup score now has Mike in the lead by 4 points.
We had a drink in the club whilst awaiting a taxi and there was a gathering of people out on the balcony watching whales breeching just out to sea from the clubhouse.
We caught a taxi back to the marina and
gave the boat a good hose down. The Smith Family turned up a little later with
Graham and Diane providing transport for Steve and Kim around Bundaberg to pick
up various things he needed for the boat.
We reunited at the marina at around 5pm,
and booked for dinner for the 6 of us at the restaurant here “Baltimore” for
dinner. We had a nice meal and good company.
