The Southerly persisted overnight bringing some much needed heavy rain along with it. The rain continued, on and off, through much of the morning.
Despite the less than ideal weather, a few keen young kids were out learning to sail.
Steve and Kim's friends in Mooloolaba have lent them a car, so we are mobile for the next few days. We were off to the supermarket at 9.30 am, really just to stock up on fresh items. We are going to Southport next and we will probably do a bigger shop there.
Given the miserable weather, we thought we might go and have a nice lunch at The Spirit House in Yandina. Sadly, it was fully booked for lunch today and tomorrow. Instead we went to a local pub, Traders Tavern, in Maroochydore, recommended by Steve's nephew. It was very well supported and had good food.
Back at the boat, we needed to walk off lunch, so went for a walk out to the river entrance. By now the rain is a lot less frequent, and the wind showing signs of abating.
The sun is making some effort to break through the clouds
A trawler was going across the bar whilst we were there, and whilst the crossing was smooth, it was pretty bumpy once he go further out to sea. The forecast is for the wind to abate tomorrow, and for reasonably light conditions on Sunday, when we intend to head down to Southport.
The insurance assessor is organised to come to the boat on Monday and assess our radar claim.
Capitalising on the great seafood available here, we went to a very nice restaurant "Fish on Parkyn", just a short walk from the marina, for a very nice dinner. With an early start planned for Sunday we will be eating onboard tomorrow night.
