Time to move further north, and after a bit
of a restless sleep at Bona Bay, we are ready to move on to Cape Upstart.
We all left at around 7 am, and enjoyed
good sailing conditions right up until we
arrived at the southern most tip of the cape, after which the wind
dropped significantly and it was sails down and motor the rest of the way.
Imagine and Dalwhinnie motoring the last part of the trip
Along the way we received a text message
from Neil Lowndes, an old work colleague letting me know that his son in a boat
called Wine Dark Sea, was just behind us, also headed for Upstart Bay.
There were the usual whale sightings in
close to shore and generally good sailing in still lumpy seas.
Rounding Cape Upstart you pass this distinctive rock, known as "The Bun"
We were safely anchored in Upstart Bay by
3pm, and Peter Lowndes from Wine Dark Sea paddled over on his stand up paddle
board to say hello and join us for a beer.

Everyone in our travelling party was pretty
tired, with a bit of sleep deprivation over the past 2 nights, so we opted to
skip sundowners and agreed to leave tomorrow morning for Magnetic Island
between 5.30am and 6 am.
