Horseshoe Bay

Sunday 13th August 2017

Now well settled into Magnetic Island pace, we decided that we would catch the bus to Horseshoe Bay. The Sunday markets are on there today, so it will be interesting to see if anything has changed over there.

The bus is absolutely packed with people arriving from Townsville on the ferry, fortunately we managed to get on early.

It is a yet another perfect day, with surprisingly low humidity  (around 50%), and temperature is in the high 20’s. The trip to Horseshoe Bay is only 7km, so after a few stops were are there in no time.

The markets are pretty much the same as the have been during previous visits, not a huge market,
but enough stalls to draw a crowd.

After around 20 minutes we have seen all we needed to at the market, and headed down to the beach for a walk along the shore. We ended up walking to the Western end of the beach, which was a lot further than it looked.

Looking back towards the town from the western end of the bay

Clear blue sky and stunning scenery

Finally back at the town, we were hungry and thirsty, so made our way to the Marlin Bar for a cool drink and lunch. We both had a very tasty squid salad and a cool beer.

Having seen enough of Horseshoe Bay , we caught the 1.50pm bus back to Nellie Bay, and relaxed for a few hours before going to Wine Dark Sea for Sundowners, with Peter and Sara . Mark and Janet from Koonya were also there.

The Windcraft team have decided to go to the local Thai Restaurant for dinner, so we joined them there after sundowners. It was a good meal and very cheap. John and Deb from Jo -De 7 have family visiting, so they did their own thing, but the rest of us we all there.
