Tuesday 7th July 2015
Finally the weather forecasters have got it
right, this morning the sun is out, there is only a light breeze, and it looks
like a perfect day for golf.
Our berth is very close to the waterfront
shopping area, so it was only a short walk to get freshly baked bread for
breakfast.
We had booked the 11am boat across to the
golf course with a tee off time of 11.20 am. There whole transfer process was
as smooth as silk, with only 4 of us on the boat going over to play.
The meet and greet process was very
professional, as was the relieving us of $150 per head for the round of golf (
boat transfer included). However, it was
well worth it, the course is beautiful (and difficult) and the scenery unbeatable.
A tough par 3 on the 1st nine
The 18th, what a great finishing hole
The signature hole, a tough par 3 across a heavily vegetated ravine
It was also the 3rd round of the
Mica Cup and it was a very close contest all day, with scores ending up equal at
23 points. Mike managed to lose 7 golf balls compared with Carole’s more frugal
2. The progressive result remains at
Mike with a lead of 3 points.
Any serious golfer should not miss the
experience of playing this course.
I received an SMS today from an old
Bradford colleague, Bill Castles, who has been sailing his catamaran, “About
Time”, up here from Melbourne and is now within striking distance, expecting to
arrive at Airlie Beach tomorrow. We will be in there on Thursday and look
forward to catching up.
Tomorrow’s destination is undecided at the
moment, depending on the weather, but we intend to head in the direction of
Airlie, and spend a night out anchored before going in on Thursday. The weather is too good to be sitting in a
marina.
My sister Shelley and her husband Denis, will be joining us on Saturday, to spend a week on the boat with us. A bit of a change from the current climate in Canberra and Crookwell.
