Everyone was grateful for the calm
conditions last night which ensured we all had a good nights sleep. High tide
is at 9am, so another run along the rocky bank towing a lure seemed like a good
idea after our success here the last time. Unfortunately the fish were far to
smart today, so it was back to Mica, with a plan to go ashore and have a walk.
The plan quickly expanded into going ashore
for a picnic lunch, which was to be a sausage sizzle, so the portable butane
burner, griddle plate etc was packed into various bags for the trip.
All ashore at Sawmill Bach ready for our walk
The tide at Sawmill is already pretty low
To work up an appetite, we planned to walk
to Dugong Beach, and have our picnic there, in a nice little picnic area near
the camping ground, right next to the beach.
On the trail to Dugong Beach
It is a relatively easy walk and we were
there by just after 12 noon , had a quick look at the beach, and set up the
burner to cook the sausages, whilst the girls went for a walk along the beach.
Sausages, fresh bread, BBQ sauce, a bit
of coleslaw and a cold drink made for a most enjoyable lunch in such a perfect
setting.
Dugong Beach
The usual goanna was sighted and Shelley rushed off to photograph it,
whilst it put on its best disguise and blended into the bush remarkably well.
With full stomachs, we wound our way back
to Sawmill Beach. The tide had gone out a fair way, but with the wheels on the
dinghy now, we were unfazed.
It was a slow trip back to Mica in choppy
water and the dinghy is pretty well laden with 4 adults on board and trying to
keep everyone dry.
Once all back on board, we raised the
anchor, and headed for Nara inlet, where we plan to spend this evening (another
nice still anchorage). We were there by 3.40 pm, anchored and settled in very
calm water.
Nice and calm at Nara at dusk
We had the rest of the mackerel for dinner
with chocolate brownies for desert that Carole had baked this afternoon.
Delicious !
