We both slept very soundly last night, after a need to catch up from our 26 hour campaign. The mossies are still with us, but we will deal with that today.
It was good to get out and stretch our legs this morning, getting a bit of a better idea of how much there still is to do to repair the seawall. There is still a massive amount of extra rocks to be bought in the strengthen the wall and it will take a long time given the apparent OH&S influence on what is happening. Large tippers are arriving all of the time with 3 large rocks on board, each individually constrained by chains.
There is no access along the top of the seawall except for trucks and excavators
A visit to the IGA supermarket in the Jetty Shopping complex is also routine once you get here, mainly just to get salad ingredients etc., and of course to have a bit of a walk around the restaurant area to see what has changed and maybe find a venue for dinner.
Back to the boat with our meagre purchases from IGA, we thought a walk into town might be in order. We can get some exercise, and Carole can get a pedicure which does not appear readily available in the jetty area.
Our neighbour on the T arm of C leg of the marina is from Wobby Beach in Sydney. I would not have expected to see a 48' Buizen with a home port of Wobby Beach, but here she is.
The weather is great, it is 28 C ! So the walk is very pleasant, we had a good doner kebab for lunch and the pedicure is organised, after which we caught a bus back to the Jetty.
We walked back around the massive upgrading that is going on around the parkland area in front of the yacht club, to have a customary walk out along the jetty to check out the harbour conditions. What a difference a day makes, the harbour is now relatively calm although the kelp strewn all over the beach is testimony to the wild seas of the previous week.
On our way back to our boat we met up with Brian from Bella who was starting to provision his boat. He will probably be some days behind us before they leave but we will no doubt meet up in QLD.
Tomorrow's plan is to sail to Yamba. There is a mild southerly change coming through and we hope to get on the tail of it to take us up there.
Tonight we went back into the Jetty Restaurants and had pizza at the Elements Bar, where they had live music and the food wasn't bad.
