Waiting for better weather

Wednesday11th October 2017

Overcast skies continue today and there is a promise of more rain. Mid morning, the fishing trawlers started returning to port, and I wandered over and had a look at one of them unloading some very nice king prawns. We have been buying the headless green prawns on or travels as they are excellent value and great for cooking. We will go over to the co-op later on to get some.

The trawlers start arriving

Unloading a very nice catch of king prawns

Todays exercise is a walk into Coffs Central Shopping Centre. We don’t really need to buy a lot, but do need the exercise, and fortunately the rain is staying away at this stage.

After doing our modest shop, we had a very good Japanese udon noodle soup for lunch at a small food stall located in the pedestrian area of the mall, before walking back to the marina. On our walk home we ran into Rob and Marg from Run to Paradise, who were also walking back to the marina from the shopping centre. The team from Dalwhinnie have hired a car and headed off sightseeing.

This place serves very good Japanese food, and was very busy

We called into the fish co-op to buy our prawns, and then headed back to Mica.

That was about the excitement for the day, as we all patiently wait for a weather window to move further south. Currently this looks like being Friday.

Our neighbours are still with us and so far, are behaving

Sundowners were on Run to Paradise, before Carole cooked up some excellent Thai fish cakes using up the remainder of our mackerel supplies in the freezer.
