Tuesday 10th October 2017
It is a bright sunny morning which, as it
turned out, was a poor indicator of what was ahead for the rest of the day.
A few hours later the clouds started
rolling in and the wind increased. The forecast is for strong southerlies this
morning, dropping this afternoon, and a chance of thunderstorms.
Feeling much better after a good nights
sleep, we wandered over to the Jetty Shopping precinct after breakfast and had
a good walk around to stretch our legs. We bought a few fresh foods at the IGA Supermarket
before returning to Mica for lunch.
Work on rebuilding the northern seawall at
the marina is still ongoing. It is amazing how long this is taking, but it
seems to be embroiled in OH&S issues which really appears to slow down the
delivery of rocks to the seawall.
Work on the seawall seems never ending
There is also a lot of work gong on to
improve the parkland around the Yacht Club and Jetty, which looks like it will
be pretty impressive when it is finally completed.
There is a bit of light rain during the
afternoon, but the storms appear to have passed north and south of us.
By mid afternoon we see activity on the
Eastsail boat which would indicate they are getting ready to go. We have finally
worked out there are 6 people on board, including 2 instructors. It is hardly
ideal conditions to be going out in, but I guess they are giving their paying
guests the full sailing experience. I spoke to couple of the crew who got quite
seasick on the trip down from Southport, so they were all dosed up with seasick
tablets for this coming leg.
Eastsail Yacht on their way
Sundowners today were on Mica, with Rob and
Marg from Run to Paradise and Brian and Eric from Dalwhinnie.
After Sundowners we went down the road to
an Indian restaurant with Brian and Eric for a quite good Indian meal.
